Rooster side view
Rooster is 31’6″ overall, 25′ on the waterline with a beam of 8’1″. The boat was designed in 1989, 27 years ago now, and she was launched by Hodgdon Yachts in 1990. Twin V-8 gas engines of 450 HP running Arneson surface drives pushed her to 75 mph, 65.4 knots. She is cold-molded, longitudinally framed with deep webs of 12mm ply, cleated top and bottom with fir caps. The bottom is 1.25″ thick. total, in four diagonal layers. The outer and inner are Douglas Fir, the middle two red cedar. A complex build but a very tough boat. Lately re-powered with twin Yanmar diesels, she’s slower but safer.
